1. POLICY STATEMENT

Police Pass is committed to providing a safe and healthy working and learning environment for all employees, learners, and visitors.

2. PURPOSE

This policy sets out arrangements for managing health and safety in compliance with UK legislation and best practice.

3. SCOPE

This policy applies to all Police Pass premises, online activities, and work-related operations. Any face-to-face provision is at police managed premises with their own health and safety procedures which are internally managed. Police Pass are not responsible for any work place issues at employees home addresses.

4. LEGAL FRAMEWORK

Police Pass complies with the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, and related legislation.

5. RESPONSIBILITIES

Company Directors ensure compliance and implement safety procedures. Employees and learners must follow safety rules and implement procedures if relevant if highlighted by dynamic risk assessments.

6. RISK ASSESSMENT

All activities will be subject to regular risk assessments. Control measures will be implemented and reviewed annually.

7. SAFE WORKING PRACTICES

Safe systems of work will be developed for training delivery, practical exercises, and equipment use.

8. TRAINING AND COMPETENCE

Staff and trainers will receive appropriate health and safety training and supervision if required.

9. ACCIDENT AND INCIDENT REPORTING

All accidents, near misses, and hazards must be reported promptly and recorded in the accident log.

10. FIRST AID

Appropriate first aid provision will be maintained at all police training locations by the hosting organisation.

11. FIRE SAFETY AND EMERGENCY PROCEDURES

Fire risk assessments are conducted by Parc Dewi Sant staff who are responsible for fire safety management at Parc Dewi Sant. Evacuation procedures will be displayed and practiced by them. Fire safety and emergency procedures are maintained at all police training locations by the hosting organisation.

12. MANUAL HANDLING

Manual handling risks will be assessed and minimised through training and equipment.

13. STRESS AND WELLBEING

Police Pass promotes mental health awareness and supports staff wellbeing.

15. SAFEGUARDING AND PERSONAL SAFETY

Safeguarding procedures are in place to protect learners and staff in secure police training locations. Security is maintained by security staff and police staff at police training locations by the hosting organisation.

16. CONSULTATION WITH EMPLOYEES

Employees will be consulted on health and safety matters and any issues identified to be risk assessed and relevant control measures implemented.

17. RECORDS MANAGEMENT

Any health and safety records will be maintained securely.

18. POLICY REVIEW

This policy will be reviewed annually or following significant changes.

19. DEFINITIONS

Risk Assessment: Identification of hazards and control measures.
Near Miss: An unplanned event that could have caused harm.
